What is Homelessness?
There are two kind of homelessness in the UK:
- Street homeless; and
- Homeless at home.
If you are a British citizen and have a priority to be assisted under The Housing Act (medical or physical condition) or if you have dependants such as any children the Council should provide you with housing assistance. The second category of homeless at home refers to cases where your property is not suitable for habitation (it is not reasonable to continue to occupy the property). In such cases you may be entitled for assistance from the Local Authority as a homeless person known as ‘homeless at home’.
