Child Arrangement Order Solicitors – London
When you cannot agree arrangements for your children after a separation, it helps to have clear, calm advice from people who deal with these cases every day. Our child arrangement order solicitors in London help parents and families reach agreement where possible, and represent them in the Family Court where it is not.
Based in Wood Green, North London, we act for mothers, fathers, grandparents and other family members across London. The first step is a fixed fee consultation, where we discuss your situation and set out your options.
What is a child arrangements order?
A child arrangements order is a court order that decides who a child lives with and when they spend time with each parent or other people named in the order. The court’s paramount consideration is the child’s welfare. Read our guide to child arrangement orders for a full explanation of who can apply, what the court considers and how long an order lasts.
Start with a fixed fee consultation
Our initial fixed fee consultation is a one-hour meeting with a family law solicitor. It gives you a clear picture of where you stand before you commit to anything further.
We will:
- listen to what has happened and what you want for your children
- explain your options, from agreeing arrangements directly or through mediation to applying to court
- tell you what the court is likely to take into account in your case
- explain the likely costs and timescales, and whether you may qualify for legal aid
- follow up with a detailed advice letter setting out everything we discussed.
To book, call 020 8889 3319 (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday), email info@tyrerroxburgh.co.uk or send us an enquiry.
How our child arrangement order solicitors can help
We advise and represent clients at every stage of a child arrangements dispute, including:
- Reaching agreement without court: negotiating on your behalf, drafting parenting plans and supporting you through mediation.
- Making an agreement legally binding: preparing the order for the court to approve.
- Applying for a child arrangements order: preparing your C100 form and supporting statements, and representing you at every hearing.
- Responding to an application: if you have received court papers from the other parent, advising you on your response and the first hearing.
- Urgent applications: where a child is at risk of harm or of being taken abroad without consent.
- Specific decisions: applying for a specific issue order or prohibited steps order where you disagree about schooling, medical treatment, a change of name or relocation.
- Cases involving domestic abuse: making or responding to allegations of harm, including fact-finding hearings.
- Changing or enforcing an order: varying an order when circumstances change, or taking action when an order is not being followed.
Legal fees and funding
Most child arrangement order cases are privately funded. After your fixed fee consultation, we will give you a clear estimate of costs for each stage before any further work begins, and keep you updated as your case progresses.
A court fee of £270 is payable when you apply. If you are on certain benefits or a low income, you may be able to get Help with Fees to reduce or cover it.
Legal aid
Legal aid is only available for child arrangement cases in limited circumstances, usually where there is evidence of domestic abuse or child abuse, or a risk of child abduction, and you also meet the financial eligibility test. Legal aid for mediation is more widely available to people who are financially eligible.
We are a legal aid firm, and we can check whether you qualify when you contact us. Find out more about legal aid for a child arrangement order. Where social services are involved, our child care proceedings solicitors provide legal aid representation.
